PITTSFORD, NY -- The Alfred University women's tennis team lost its Empire 8 Conference opener Tuesday, falling to host St. John Fisher, 7-2.

The loss was the first of the season for AU, which had won its first two matches of the season, both against non-conference foes.

AU won one singles match against Fisher, with senior Holly Seidewand (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) claiming her fourth singles match, 6-2, 6-1. Seidewand and sophomore Sarah Foster (Adelaide, Australia/Sparta, NJ) teamed to take their second doubles match, 9-7.

Alfred (2-1, 0-1 Empire 8) is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Penn State-Behrend Tournament in Erie, PA.
