Fiction Writer Brock Clarke slated to give reading

Fiction Writer Brock Clarke will be reading from his work Thursday, Sept. 17, at 5:30 p.m. in the Knight Club at Alfred University. The program is open to the public free of charge.

Clarke, a WNY native, is the author of four books of fiction including “An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England. ” Clarke is the author of “The Ordinary White Boy,” “What We Won’t Do,” and “Carrying the Torch.” He has twice been a finalist for a National Magazine Award in Fiction.

Clarke’s work has appeared in the Virginia Quarterly Review, OneStory, the Believer, the Georgia Review, and the Southern Review; in the Pushcart Prize and New Stories from the South anthologies; and on National Public Radio’s Selected Shorts. He teaches creative writing at the University of Cincinnati.

The Alfred University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Division of English and Humanities, and the Writing Center are sponsoring Clarke’s visit.
