ALFRED, NY — Vinson Hendrix (Rochester, NY/East), a senior tailback on the Alfred University football team, has been named Offensive Player of the Week by the Empire 8 Conference.

The Empire 8 honored Hendrix for his play in Alfred’s 49-28 victory over visiting conference foe Springfield College on Saturday, Sept. 26. Hendrix rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns against a Springfield team that came into the game ranked first in the nation in Division III in rushing defense (10 yards per game). Hendrix, who averaged 4.9 yards on 36 carries, also caught two passes for 30 yards.

Alfred (4-0, 0-0 Empire 8) is idle this weekend and returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m., when the Saxons entertain Empire 8 rival Hartwick.
