Women's soccer team tops City College, 3-1

NEW YORK, NY -- The Alfred University women's soccer team beat host City College of New York, 3-1, Sunday morning.

AU (4-6-1, 0-5-0 Empire 8) led 2-0 at the half as sophomore midfielder Alicia Schuler (Elba, NY/Elba) and sophomore forward Molly Sullivan (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) tallied goals. Freshman forward Emily Moorehead (Waverly, NY/Waverly) scored in the second half for the Lady Saxons. Senior defender Carly Schrader (Vestal, NY/Vestal) assisted on Schuler's goal.

Frances Tapia scored the lone City College goal, on an assist from Rocio Hernandez.

Sophomore Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie Valley) played the first 80 minutes in goal for Alfred and allowed no goals while making four saves. Freshman Andrea Telesca (Fairport, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) played the final 10 minutes in net, made three saves, and allowed a goal. Kate Malytska went the distance in net for City College and made 12 saves.

AU is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 10, at noon at SUNY-IT.
