AU swimming and diving teams sweep Pitt-Bradford
Freshman Eryn Matich (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) won three events to lead the AU women, while freshman Kylie Smith (Abington, PA/Abington), and junior Sarah Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn) each won two. Matich won the 200-yard fly (2:32.20), the 200-yard IM (2:27.43) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.98); Smith won 1-meter diving (187.88) and 3-meter diving (187.43); and Blair won the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.53) and 100-yard free (56.43 seconds).
Also earning wins for the AU women were freshman Nicole Ramos (Freeville, NY/Dryden) in the 50-yard free (28.18 seconds), and freshman Katie Ganley (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:49.23).
The AU women won both relays. Blair, juniors Cailin Asmo (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) and Calista Merritt (Conesus, NY/Livonia) and Matich won the 400-yard free relay (4:05.73), and freshman Shelby Remington (Gainesville, NY/Letchworth), senior Meghan Jones (Beaver Falls, NY/Beaver River) and freshman Julie Dzikowski (Dansville, NY/Dansville) won the 400-yard medley relay (4:42.26).
Senior Kameron Chambliss (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) and junior Tyler Olsen (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga) each won two events and AU men won both relays.
Chambliss swept the diving events, scoring 252.68 on the 1-meter board and 261.60 at three meters to remained unbeaten in three dual meets and Olsen won the 50-yard free (22.29 seconds) and 500-yard free (5:01.42). The team of senior Andrew Brisson (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich), sophomore Warren Dolben (Rye, NH/Berwick), senior Greg Pilgrim (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) and sophomore Andrew Moragne (Cleveland, OH/University) won the 400-yard medley relay (3:48.60), while Olsen, junior Dan Steere (Hornell, NY/Alfred-Almond), Moragne and Brisson took the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:20.25).
Also earning wins for the AU men were junior Zach Mix (Mt. Morris, NY/Mt. Morris) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.98); freshman Nate Chapman (Hornell, NY/Hornell) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.23); Pilgrim in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.16); Moraine in the 100-yard free (50.24 seconds); junior Matt Lobban (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.36); and Dolben in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.02).
The Alfred men’s and women’s teams are in action next on Friday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. at Fredonia.
