Concert Band plans program celebrating American diversity

The Alfred University Concert Band will perform in Holmes Auditorium, Harder Hall, on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. The event is open to the public, free of charge.

Under the direction of Dr. Christopher Foster, assistant professor of music/director of bands, the Concert Band will play music celebrating American diversity and historical civil rights events. Selections will include music of different heritages and cultures.

In addition to the Concert Band, Foster directs the Jazz Band and the Brass Coir and he teaches music theory and wind instrument students.

Foster earned a doctor of musical arts degree in trumpet performance and wind conducting from the University of North Texas, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in music education from the University of Nevada-Reno.
