ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University women's soccer team was cited by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for academic excellence.

The NSCAA recently announced its 2009 academic honors and the AU women's soccer team earned a Team Academic Award. Honored squads are given the award for having a team grade-point average of at least 3.20. The 2009 honors apply to the 2008-09 academic year.

Alfred was one of 333 women's teams nationwide, in all divisions, to earn NSCAA Team Academic Awards.
