ROCHESTER, NY — The Alfred University men’s basketball team was defeated by RIT, 69-49, Tuesday evening in an Empire 8 matchup.

Alfred (10-13, 3-11 Empire 8) trailed RIT, 32-23, at the end of the first half. For the game, AU shot 35 percent and RIT shot 43 percent.

Junior guard Gary Kwiecien (Perry, NY/Perry) scored a team-high eight points and senior forward Jared Patt (Nelson, PA/Elkland Area) scored seven points and brought down a team-high eight rebounds to lead the Saxons. Freshman center Bryan Bobo (Ontario, NY/Wayne Central) and junior guard Mike Stopera (Scotia,NY/Scotia-Glenville) each added seven points. Freshman guard Sean Curran (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) and senior forward Ron Smith (Lyons, NY/Lyons) each chipped in with six points.

Anthony Terry scored a game-high 17 points and Adam Sweet scored 13 points to pace RIT (12-11, 8-6 Empire 8). Scott Young added nine points and Nate Korninchak netted six points and had a game-high seven assists.

Alfred is in action next on Feb. 19, at 8 p.m. vs. Elmira.
