Accounting major awarded scholarship for academic excellence
2/25/10

Sarah Dibble of Andover, a junior in the College of Business at Alfred University, is the recipient of the Financial Executives International (FEI) Rochester $1,000 scholarship award for academic excellence.

Dibble is an accounting major with minors in finance and marketing. She graduated from Andover High School and is a daughter of M. Michael and Deborah Dibble of Andover.

In high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society. Last year at AU she was a member of the women’s soccer team and assisted in the Athletics Department. She is currently an active member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF).

Dr. Abderrahman Robana, professor of finance in the College of Business, nominated dibble for the 2010 FIE Academic Scholarship. His nomination was based on her academic and extra-curricular achievements, her leadership potential on campus, and on a one-page essay she submitted with the faculty recommendation.

“The Financial Executives International - Rochester Chapter provides four scholarships of this nature to students from Western New York institutions of higher education. We are very proud that Dibble was selected from such a competitive pool of candidates and honored to have our scholars recognized by FEI,” said Lori Hollenbeck, assistant dean in the AU College of Business.

Dibble accepted her award on Feb. 25 at the Country Club of Rochester during the FEI Scholars Night award ceremony.
