Saxon track and field teams complete first day at state indoor meet 2/27/10
On Friday, freshman Emily Moorehead (Waverly, NY/Waverly) took fifth in the weight throw (12.59 meters) to lead the Alfred women. The team of senior Rachel Gaylord (Elmira, NY/Horseheads), freshman Amy Morrissey (Hornell, NY/Hornell), junior Melissa Haahr (Owego, NY/Tioga) and senior Megan Crimmins (Big Flats, NY/Horseheads) were fourth in the distance medley with a school-record time of 12:56.03; and the team of freshman Jordyn Larkins (Rochester, NY/Harley-Allendale-Columbia), sophomore Anne Mills (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough), freshman Erin Johnstone (West Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Morrissey took seventh in the 4X200-meter relay (1:55.86). Junior Markenson Joseph (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional) and freshman Mike Raplee (Dundee, NY/Dundee) were sixth (13.65 meters) and seventh (13.25 meters), respectively, in the weight throw to pace the AU men. Sophomore Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) was eighth in the long jump (6.50 meters); freshmen Chris Lopez (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster Catholic) and sophomores Randy Brito (New York, NY/Cardinal Hayes) and Justin Shardlow (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) placed seventh in the 4X200-meter relay (1:34.69); and sophomore Ken Noll (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane), senior sLee Consolo (Pleasantville, NY/ Pleasantville) and Matt Phillips (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane), and sophomore Derek Denkenberger (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) were eighth in the distance medley (11:06.20). The AU women had 11 points after Friday’s action; Ithaca led with 101. The Alfred men had nine points; Rochester was in first with 57.50 points. The championships conclude Saturday with the pole vault, shot put, triple jump, mile run, 55-meter hurdles, 55-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter run, 500-meter run, 800-meter run, 1,000-meter run, 4X400-meter relay and 4X800-meter relay. |
