AU women’s lacrosse team blanks Medaille 3/20/10
AU (2-1, 0-0 Empire 8) led 12-0 at the half as the Saxons allowed Medaille few scoring opportunities. Alfred outshot the visitors 27-3 in the first half and 36-9 for the game. Adams came into the game with 97 career points. She netted a pair of goals in the game’s first 1:24, then notched her 100th career point when she assisted on a goal by senior attacker Abbey Schaffnit (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove) 4:57 in. Adams, Alfred’s leading scoer, finished with five goals and an assist. Schaffnit scored four goals and freshmen midfielders Tracie McGinnity (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) and Devin Fitzgerald (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) each had two, with McGinnity adding a team-high four groundballs. Junior attacker Elyse Caldwell (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) had a goal and two assists and senior attacker Emily Tobin (Penfield, NY/Penfield) had three assists. Sophomore attacker Ivy Lam (Sanford, ME/Sanford) and senior defender Lisa Button (Troupsburg, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) each scored one goal for Alfred. Heather Boyzuck had a game-high five groundballs for Medaille (0-3). Maverick goalie Jody Lang made nine saves. Alfred is in action next on Sunday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at home against SUNY Maritime. |
