First spring student vocalist recital scheduled for Sunday at Alfred University

The Alfred University Division of Performing Arts will present the first student recital of the spring 2010 semester on Sunday, April. 11, at 3 p.m. in Susan Howell Hall. Admission is open to the public free of charge.

The students will be performing a variety of styles from musical theater to classical including “Far From the Home I Love” from the Fiddler on the Roof; “In His Eyes” from Jekyll and Hyde; “As Long As He Needs Me” from Oliver; “If I Loved You” from Carousel; and “What I Did For Love” from A Chorus Line.

Also, “Se tu m’ami;” Les Berceaux;” “L’anneau d’argent;” “Dream Valley;” “Vaga luna;” “I’ll Never Smile Again;” “American Lullaby;” and “Silent Moon.”
Flutist Michaela Stone will perform the first movement of “Duo for Flute and Piano” by Aaron Copland.

The student vocalists performing will include Christie Allen, Ned Allen, Hope Barnum, Ryan Maggio, Sara Egan, Anna Kowalchuk, Rachelle Walsh, and Katie Barlow.

The students in the recital are from the studios of Rebecca Weaver, adjunct faculty in voice, and Janna Buckwalter, adjunct faculty in music.

Laurel Buckwalter, University carillioner and music specialist, will accompany the vocalists on piano.

There will be refreshments provided by the music faculty following the program.
