Alfred University summer program designed to help students prepare for art school admission

Alfred University is offering a five-day, intensive, summer course titled “How to Get into a Top Art School” for high school students who will be entering 11th or 12th grade in the fall. The program, running from Sunday, July 18-Thursday, July 22, is designed to prepare students for applying to and getting into the art school of their choice.

Applications are due Friday, April 16, 2010. The five-day program costs $735, including room and board; $100 is due with the application. The number of participants will be capped at 20 to allow for individualized attention.

Students selected for the program are required to bring their portfolios to campus with them for review. Topics to be covered during the week include building a strong portfolio, learning about careers in the arts, drawing sessions, traveling to a professional artist’s studio, and hearing a presentation on different artists’ career paths.
