Alfred University, AAUW to host guest from Ghana discussing child trafficking

The Alfred University Women’s Leadership Center (WLC), along with the American Association of University Women (Alfred-Hornell branch), will host guest lecturer Joyce Steiner on Thursday, July 1, from 3-5 p.m. at the WLC. Steiner, program manager of the Christian Council of Ghana, will speak on her recent work on a documentary entitled “Fight Against Child Trafficking.”

The program is open to the public free of charge. The WLC is on the corner of Ford and Sayles streets, Alfred, in the south end of the AU campus.

Steiner earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology (with honors) from the University of Ghana. She has also worked against fighting the stigma of HIV and AIDS in Ghana.

The WLC, founded in 2006, builds on Alfred University’s heritage as the first truly coeducational institution in the nation. The WLC provides leadership education and skills development for Alfred's students, with an emphasis on developing leadership among female students. The center offers collaborative learning opportunities, fosters mentoring and networking with leadership role models, and offers a variety of leadership-enhancing experiences including speakers, workshops, seminars, and internships.
