ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women’s tennis team dropped its 2010 season opener, falling 6-3 to visiting Brockort State Saturday afternoon.

The Saxons got singles wins from junior Griffin Currie (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep), 6-3, 6-2 in first singles, and senior Autumn McLain (Oneida, NY/Oneida), 6-2, 6-1 in second singles.

Currie and McLain earned the Saxons’ only win in doubles, taking their first doubles match 8-4.

Alfred plays next on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m. at home against Empire 8 Conference foe St. John Fisher.
