English lecturer will have ‘a Story to Tell’ during Sept. 9 Bergren Forum

Heather Yanda, visiting lecturer in English at Alfred University, will present “Because Everyone has a Story to Tell” on Thursday, Sept. 9, during AU’s Bergren Forum, 12:10 p.m., in Powell Campus Center’s Nevins Theatre. This event is free of charge and open to the public.

Yanda earned a bachelor of arts degree from Alfred University and a master of fine arts degree from Western Michigan University.

Her academic interests include contemporary American poetry, contemporary Irish poetry, poetry on art, and personal essay.

Her publications include “The Neighbors’ Beautiful Daughters,” a finished manuscript, currently entered into various first book contests. Her poems were also published or will be published in Calyx, Slipstream, The Windsor Review, and Sow’s Ear Poetry Review. Yanda was also the recipient of the Mary Wager Fisher Literary Prize from Alfred University in 1991.

The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Alfred University Division of Human Studies, meets Thursdays during each academic semester. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch; coffee and tea will be available.
