COBLESKILL, NY – The Alfred University volleyball team defeated host SUNY Cobleskill, 3-0, Saturday afternoon. The Saxons won 25-16, 25-17, and 25-23 to improve to 2-3 on the season.

Freshman Paige Jensen (Weiser, ID/Weiser) had eight kills and four digs and freshman Tara Barone (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) had 13 assists, five service aces and seven digs to lead the Saxons.

Freshman Samantha Wood (Newfield, NY/Newfield) had six kills and four digs; freshman Kelsey Brand (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) had three blocks; freshman Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) had three kills, four digs and a pair of blocks; and sophomore Kellie Hughson (Albion, NY/Charles D’Amico) had five aces and 10 digs.

AU is in action next on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. at Hilbert.
