OSWEGO, NY – The Alfred University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the SUNY Oswego invitational meets Saturday. The AU men’s team placed third of six teams competing in the eight-kilometer race, while the Alfred women were fourth of seven team running the five-kilometer race.

Junior Ken Noll (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) led the AU men’s team with an eighth-place finish in 29:13.95. Freshman Sam Cox (Linwood, NY/York) was 18th (31:13.54) and sophomore Eric Shaormann (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame) was 24th (32:02.54).

Junior Elisabeth Phillips-Jones (Watertown, MA/Watertown) was the top Alfred women’s runner, taking eighth place in 21:18.30. Sophomore Linsey Laserte (Westminster, MA/Oakmont Regional) was 24th (22:43.43) and senior Melissa Haahr (Owego, NY/Tioga) was 26th (22:58.23).

The Alfred men’s and women’s teams are in action on Sept. 25 at Houghton College.
