ALFRED, NY – Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie Valley), a senior goalkeeper on the Alfred University women’s soccer team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Ewoldt was honored for her play in the Saxons’ lone game last week, a 0-0 double-overtime tie against visiting Elmira. She earned the shutout by making 14 saves in Alfred’s Empire 8 Conference opener.

AU (2-0-1, 0-0-1 Empire 8) is in action next on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. at Empire 8 foe Nazareth.
