Daemen defeats Lady Saxons, 4-1

AMHERST, NY-- The Alfred University women’s soccer team was defeated by host Daemen, 4-1, Saturday afternoon.

Alfred got on the board first with an unassisted goal from senior Elizabeth Graham (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) at the 20:20 mark.
Daemen would respond with four unanswered goals, en route to a 4-1 victory. Kacey Bougard tied the game at one, off an assist from Brianna VanScoter. Rachel Banasik scored two goals in less than a 20-minute span, and Kelsey O’Leary closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal.

The Saxons were outshot 29-1. Senior Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie) made 11 saves in net for Alfred. Rachel Reichart and Caitlin Brooks each played a half of Daemen.

Alfred (2-2-1, 0-1-1 E8) is in action next on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. against visiting Keuka College.
