Gayngs schedules Oct. 1 performance at AU’s Davis Gym
The up-and-coming musical group Gayngs will perform at Alfred University on Friday, Oct. 1 from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in Davis Gym, just up from Alfred’s only traffic light.
Doors will open at 8:30 p.m. and the opening band, Glasser, will perform at 9. Gayngs is scheduled to take the stage at 10.
Admission, including a bracelet and tattoo, is $5 for AU students and $15 for non-students. There is no online presale but the Student Activities Board, sponsor of the concert, will hold tickets by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gayngs consists of more than 25 musicians from various scenes around the country. It includes, Ryan Olson; Solid Gold members Zack Coulter and Adam Hurlburt; North Carolina’s Megafaun (Joe Westerlund, Brad Cook, Phil Cook); Ivan Howard from the Rosebuds; Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Mike Noyce; Rhymesayers rapper P.O.S. and his fellow Doomtree artist Dessa; psych-rockers Jake Luck and Nick Ryan from Leisure Birds; song-birds Channy Moon-Casselle and Katy Morley; jazz-saxophonist Michael Lewis from Happy Apple and Andrew Bird; retro-pop duo Maggie Morrison and Grant Cutler from Lookbook;, and side-guitarist Shon Torth from Solid Gold.
Gayngs released the album entitled “Relayted” in Spring 2010. Their influence is 10cc’s “I’m Not in Love.”
