Brockport defeats AU volleyball team

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University volleyball team lost to visiting SUNY Brockport, 3-1, Tuesday evening at the McLane Center.

The Saxons (5-10) dropped the first two games (25-11, 25-18) and won the third (25-20) before Brockport took the fourth (25-18).

Freshman Paige Jensen (Weiser, ID/Weiser) had 11 kills, three digs and a block assist to pace the Saxons. Junior Emily Crosby (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had six kills and 17 digs; freshman Tara Barone (Derby, NH/Lake Shore) had 18 assists and four digs; freshman Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) had four kills and 13 digs; and freshman Brittany Anselment (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) had 17 digs and two service aces.

Senior Erika Huyck (Forestville, NY/Forestville) had 12 digs, while sophomore Kellie Hughson (Albion, NY/Charles D’Amico) and freshman Kelsey Brand (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) each had four.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 1 p.m. at SUNY Oswego.
