ONEONTA, NY — Host Hartwick College shut out the visiting Alfred University women’s soccer team, 2-0, Saturday afternoon.

Hartwick (5-2-1, 2-0-1 Empire 8) scored one goal in each half and outshot the visiting Saxons 21-8. Emily Thorndike opened the scoring with four seconds left in the half on assists from Briana Crow and Carly Pine. Jessica Bentley made it 2-0 17:13 into the second half, assisted by Kate Bosy and Julie Kessler.

AU senior goalie Shanna Ewoldt (Tuscon, AZ/Waubansie Valley) made six saves in goal for Alfred. Alyssa Rondo played 76 minutes in goal for Hartwick and made five saves; Kelly Griffin played the finals 14 minutes and stopped one shot.

Alfred (2-4-3, 0-3-1 Empire 8) is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 9, at noon against visiting Ithaca.
