ITHACA, NY -- The Alfred University volleyball team wrapped up its season Saturday with a pair of matches at the Empire 8 Conference crossover tournament hosted by Ithaca College.

AU lost to Ithaca 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-16) before bouncing back to edge Hartwick in five games (26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12). The Saxons end their season with a 7-19 overall record (2-6 Empire 8).

Against Hartwick, freshman Paige Jensen (Weiser, ID/Weiser) had 13 kills and 14 digs and freshman Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) had 15 kills and 19 digs to pace AU. Freshman Janelle Gallipeau (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) had three kills, 19 assists and 16 digs; freshman Samantha Wood (Newfield, NY/Newfield) had nine kills, 10 digs and three solo blocks; senior Stephanie Miller (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) had nine kills and two blocks; and junior Emily Crosby (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had two service aces and 15 digs.

Jensen led the Saxons against Ithaca with seven kills, four digs and a solo block. Miller had five kills; Hall had five kills and four digs; and Gallipeau had 21 assists.
