Soprano Rebecca Weaver to perform in new Miller Theater

Soprano Rebecca Weaver will present a recital of works by Menotti and Barber with piano accompaniment by Priscilla Yuen on Sunday, Nov. 7. The recital will start at 3 p.m. in the new Miller Theater on the Alfred University Campus.

Weaver is an adjunct instructor of voice at AU, where she has taught since 2003. She is completing doctoral studies in the voice and literature program at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, studying with Carol Webber. She recently received the William McIver Memorial Scholarship for excellence in voice teaching.

Weaver played the role of Olga in “The Merry Widow,” Mrs. Grose in “The Turn of the Screw,” and La Zelatrice in “Suor Angelica” at Eastman. She is a frequent recitalist, most recently at the Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester.

Yuen is currently pursuing a graduate degree at the Eastman School of Music majoring in piano accompanying and chamber. She has performed in master classes. Yuen is the staff pianist at the New York Summer music Festival in Oneonta, where she participates in numerous recitals as accompanist, soloist, and ensemble member.
