AU Chamber Singers, Chorus, Jazz Band ready programs for annual Festifall

On Friday Nov. 5, the Performing Arts Division at Alfred University will conduct its annual Festifall concert featuring performances by the AU Chamber Singers, the University Chorus, and the Jazz Band. This pop/jazz concert begins at 8 p.m. in the new Miller Theater. The event is free and open to the public.

The choirs, under the direction of Luanne Crosby, will perform songs by Burt Bacharach and the Beatles including “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” “The Look of Love,” “That’s What Friends Are For,” and “In My Life.”

The Alfred Volunteer Choir Company (faculty and community choir), under the direction of Laurel Buckwalter, will make a guest appearance, performing “Eleanor Rigby” and a madrigal setting of “Can’t Buy Me Love.”

During the second half of the program, the AU Jazz Band, under the direction of Christopher Foster, director of bands and assistant professor of music, will perform some original compositions. Vocalist Danielle Corsaro, a senior psychology major from Pine City, will solo with the band for one number. Pieces will cover a variety of jazz genres, including swing, Latin, and funk.
