AU swimming and diving teams compete at Geneseo Invitational 10/31/10
Senior Tyler Olsen (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga) earned two wins to pace the Saxon men. He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.71 and the 100-yard free in 49.13 seconds. Also winning races for the AU men were sophomore Nate Chapman (Hornell, NY/Hornell) in the 500 free (5:01.83) and senior Zach Mix (Mt. Morris, NY/Mt. Morris) in the 100-yard butterfly (55.53). The team of Olsen, senior Dan Steere (Hornell, NY/Alfred Almond), Chapman, and freshman Peter Sowinski (Akron, NY/Akron) won the 400-yard free relay (3:17.97). The team of junior Richard Guarniero (New York Mills, NY/Thomas R. Proctor), junior Warren Dolben (Rye, NH/Berwick Academy), Mix and Olsen was second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.77) and Steere, Chapan, Guarniero and Sowinski were second in the 200-yard free relay (1:30.72). Senior Matt Lobban (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) was second in the 1,000-yard free (10:23.51) and 500-yard free (5:09.05); Steere was second in the 50 free (22.90); Guarniero was second in the 100-yard backstroke (58.04); and Dolben was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.77). Senior Sarah Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn) earned the only win for the AU women, taking first in the 50 freestyle (25.64). She also placed second in the 100-yard breast (1:12.41). Junior Donna Hoops (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) was third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.95); freshman Heather Remchuk (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was fifth in the 100 back (1:09.64) and 100 breast (1:16.43); and sophomore Kylie Smith (Abington, PA/Abington) was fourth in 1-meter diving (197.30 points) and 3-meter diving (170.65 points). The team of Blair, sophomore Shelby Remington (Pike, NY/Letchworth), freshman Rachel Garramone (Evanston, IL/Chicago Waldorf) and Remchuk was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:49.66) and sophomore Eda Pellumbi (Windham, ME/Cheverus), senior Cailin Asmo (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City), sophomore Tracy Miller (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and sophomore Julia Dzikowski (Dansville, NY/Dansville) were fifth in the 400 free relay (4:12.80). The AU men’s and women’s team is in action next on Friday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m. at RIT. |
