AU English equestrian team competes at Lehman Farms

PITTSFORD, NY — The Alfred University English equestrian team competed in a pair of shows Oct. 30 and 31 at Lehman Farms. The Saxons placed second of 10 teams on Saturday and third of 10 teams on Sunday.

Senior Barbara Koziol (Syracuse, PA/Bishop Ludden) paced the Saxons on Saturday, taking first place in open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat.

Other event winners for AU Saturday were senior Natalie Grow (Hyde Park, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes), intermediate equitation over fences; junior Katie LeSuer (Edinboro, PA/Cambridge Springs), first in novice equitation over fences and novice equitation on the flat; and junior Danielle Ross (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter’s), intermediate equitation over fences. Ross also was second in novice equitation on the flat.

Other top riders for AU Saturday included: senior Maire Cosgrove (White Haven, PA/Bishop Hoban), second in open equitation on the flat; sophomore Hallie Draegert, (Dayton, NY/Gowanda) second in beginner walk-trot-canter; sophomore Amelia Keyes (Webster, NY) and junior Erika Raye (Sussex, NJ/High Point Regional), second in novice equitation on the flat; junior Jessica Repanes (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills), second in advanced walk-trot-canter; junior Kelly Rinebold (Ontario, NY/Wayne), second in intermediate equitation on the flat; senior Erin Toone (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South), second in advanced walk-trot-canter; and senior Michelle Flannery (Syracuse, NY/Westhill), third in novice equitation over fences and intermediate equitation on the flat.

Koziol also won first place in open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat on Sunday. Other event winners Sunday were Flannery in first place in intermediate equitation over fences; freshman Amelia Maslin (Chardon, OH/Andrews Osborne) in novice equitation on the flat; Ross in novice equitation on the flat; and Toone in advanced walk-trot-canter.

Other top riders Sunday for AU included: LeSuer, second in novice equitation on the flat; Repanes, second in advanced walk-trot-canter; Draegert, second in beginner walk-trot-canter; Keyes, third in novice equitation over fences and novice equitation on the flat; senior Johanna Moore (Summit, NY/Morristown-Beard), third in intermediate equitation on the flat; and junior Kalcy O’Keefe (Rochester, NY/Penfield), third in intermediate equitation on the flat.

The AU English team is in action next on Dec. 5 at Cornell.
