AU women's swimming and diving team falls to William Smith

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women’s swimming and diving team fell to visiting William Smith, 136-104, Saturday afternoon.

Senior Sarah Blair (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and sophomore Kylie Smith (Abington, PA/Abington) each won two events for the Saxons (0-3, 0-2 Empire 8). Blair won the 50-yard freestyle (25.37), and the 100-yard freestyle (56.85). Smith finished first in the 1-meter diving (183.95) and 3-meter diving (194.40).

Other event winners for AU were senior Calista Merritt (Conesus, NY/Livonia)
in the 1000-yard free (11:53:50), and sophomore Eryn Matich (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) in the 200-yard IM (2:25:43).

Freshman Paige Citarella (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke(2:09:08), junior Donna Hoops (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) finished second in the 100-yard free (1:06:85), Merritt finished second place in the 500-yard free (5:50:08), freshman Heather Remchuk (Hornell, NY/Hornell) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13:19), and the team of Blair, Matich, Citarella, and Remchuk finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:57:96).

The Alfred men and women are next in action at the RIT Invitational Dec. 3-5.
