AU women’s basketball team evens record with win at Penn College
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Alfred University women’s basketball team defeated host Pennsylvania College of Technology, 73-39, Monday evening. With the win, AU ended a two-game losing streak and evened its record at 2-2.
Alfred shot 33 percent in the first half, but held Penn Tech (0-4) to 13 percent shooting to lead 35-15 at intermission. For the game, AU shot 35 percent to 21 percent for the Wildcats and outrebounded the host team 58-47 while forcing 22 turnovers.
Senior guard Lyndsay Murphy (Almond, NY/Hornell) netted a game-high 14 points and freshman forward Grace Williamson (Olean, NY/Olean) had 10 points and nine rebounds to lead the Saxons. Senior guard Courtney Lincoln (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) had nine points, four rebounds and five assists; junior guard Christina Jordan (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY/Cornwall) had seven points and seven assists; and senior forward Autumn McLain (Oneida, NY/Oneida ) scored eight points and pulled down nine rebounds. Junior guard Kacey Kwiecien (Perry, NY/Perry) added four steals.
Tasha Stover scored (eight rebounds) and Hilary Rice (five rebounds, three assists) each scored 10 points to lead Penn Tech.
Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. at home against Hilbert.
