ALFRED, NY-- The Alfred University men’s basketball team defeated visiting Paul Smith’s College, 88-43, Sunday afternoon.

AU held a 43-15 at intermission, holding Paul Smith’s to 17 percent from the floor.
For the game AU shot 39 percent and held Paul Smith’s to 26 percent.

Senior guard Mike Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) led the charge for AU, scoring a game-high 16 points, while picking up four rebounds. Sophomore guard Sean Curran (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) scored 11 points, and had four rebounds and three assists. Junior Guard Josh Parker (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) netted nine points and had eight rebounds, and junior forward Derek Lewis (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads/Corning CC) chipped in eight points, while picking up a game-high 10 rebounds.

Paul Smith’s (4-7) was lead by Leon Cureton's nine points and three assists. Ryan Hingston picked up a team-high eight rebounds, while netting eight points.

AU (5-3) is in action next on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at St. John Fisher to open conference play.
