HOBOKEN, NJ—The Alfred University men’s basketball team lost to host Stevens 76-57, Saturday afternoon.

Senior guard Mike Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Saxons (7-7, 2-4 Empire 8). Senior guard Gary Kwiecien (Perry, NY/Perry) scored nine points and had four assists, and sophomore guard Sean Curran (Honesdale, NY/Honesdale) netted eight points.

Sheldon Jones scored 21 points and had seven boards to lead the Ducks (10-2, 4-1 Empire 8). Patrick Sabatino netted 17 points and picked up a game-high 11 boards.

Alfred is in action next on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. at Wells College.
