AU indoor track and field teams compete at RIT Tiger Invitational

ROCHESTER, NY — The Alfred University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams each competed Saturday at the RIT-hosted Tiger Invitational. There were no team scores, but several AU men and women turned in solid performances.

Sophomore Amy Morrissey (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was sixth in the 500-meter run (1:29.44) and 10th in the 1,000-meter run (3:35.99) to pace the AU women’s team.

Other top-10 performances for the Alfred women were turned in by freshman Eliza Parker (Oswego, NY/Oswego), sixth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.48 seconds); Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), 10th in the 400 meters (1:07.53) and 10th in the high jump (1.33 meters); senior Melissa Haahr (Owego, NY/Tioga), ninth in the mile run (6:04.16); junior Elisabeth Pjillips-Jones (Watertown, MA/Watertown), ninth in the 3,000-meter run (11:23.82); Elizabeth DeMonte, sixth in the high jump (1.43 meters); freshman Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield), sixth in the pole vault (2.90 meters) and seventh in the long jump (4.73 meters); freshman Corine Pettit (Strykersville, NY/Holland), eighth in the triple jump (9.52 meters); and sophomore Kelly-Jo Beck (York, NY/York), eighth in the shot put (9.32 meters).

Senior Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) led the AU men with his fourth-place and ECAC-qualifying performance in the shot put (14.91 meters).

Also finishing in the top-10 for the Alfred men were junior Ken Noll (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane), fifth in the 3,000-meter run (9:27.23); freshman Craig Gaymon (White Plains, NY/White Plains), 10th in the 200-meter run (24.08 seconds) and tied for fourth in the high jump (1.83 meters); junior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden), eighth in the 400-meter run (53.30); sophomore Stefan Nonnenmann (New Providence, NJ/New Providence), eighth in the 500-meter run (1:11.57); and freshman Isaiah Cassin (Candor, NY/Candor), tied for fourth in the high jump (1.83 meters).

AU is in action next on Saturday, Jan. 22 at Edinboro (PA) State University.
