AU psychology professor to present Bergren Forum program on parenting
Lou Lichtman, professor of psychology at Alfred University, will present “Tips on Raising a Self-Directed and Caring Child” on Thursday, Jan. 27, during AU’s Bergren Forum at 12:10 p.m., in Powell Campus Center’s Nevins Theatre. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
During the forum, Lichtman will focus on three main topics: building self-esteem, discipline and parenting styles, and parenting of adolescents.
Lichtman, in his 41st year as a professor of psychology at AU earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Maine. He has been teaching a Parenting Seminar course for 24 years and recently completed a book on parenting that is in the publishing process. The title of the book is, “A Practical Guide to Raising a Self-Directed and Caring Child.”
The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Alfred University Division of Human Studies, meets Thursdays during each academic semester at the University. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch; coffee and tea will be available.
