Eastman School dean to teach public voice master class at Alfred University

The Alfred University Division of Performing Arts, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, welcomes to campus Abra K. Bush, assistant dean of Academic Affairs at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, who will present a free, public voice master class, Friday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 126 of the Miller Performing Arts Center.

“I’m thrilled that our students will have the opportunity to work with such an amazing teacher, ” said Rebecca Weaver, adjunct instructor of voice at AU who met Bush while both singers were graduate students at The Ohio State University. “Abra is intensely musical and extremely funny, so I anticipate wonderful singing and lots of laughter.”

Six students from the studios of Luanne Crosby, AU professor of voice and chorus, and Weaver will perform classical songs and musical theater. The master class will last approximately 90 minutes.

Bush previously taught at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and at Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. She made her professional opera debut as Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea at Opera Columbus with Boston Baroque.

She frequently performs in recitals, most recently at several national and regional conferences of the College Music Society and as a guest artist at Nazareth College, Rochester, and The Ohio State University.
