Saxons fall to Stevens, 24-6

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men’s lacrosse team was defeated by Stevens, 24-6, Saturday afternoon.

Alfred (7-2, 0-2 Empire 8) trailed 13-3 at the half. For the game, Stevens outshot AU, 68-20, and picked up 42 groundballs to Alfred’s 31.

Junior attack Stefan Dabkowski (Latham, NY/Shaker (SUNY Delhi) scored two goals to pace the Saxons. Senior attack Marc Zoyhofski (Blasdell, NY/Frontier), sophomore midfielders Matt Zon (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home), and Jay Sterns (Corning, NY/Corning West (Mercyhurst)), and junior midfielder Jay Whyel (Markleysburg, PA/Mercersburg Academy) each scored a goal.

Brandon Faubert netted a game-high five goals and had three assists to lead the Ducks. Kevin score (two assists), Chris Laurita, and Harry Dorne each scored three goals

Sophomore Justin Becker (Conesus, NY/Livonia) started in net for the Saxons making 14 saves in 40:22. Senior Adam Schutz Geneva, NY/Geneva) played 4:38 in goal making fours save, and junior John Landi (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley) played the fourth quarter and had two saves.

Eric Yano played the first three quarters in goal for Stevens (9-0, 2-0 Empire 8) making three saves and allowing three goals and Connor Nolan played the fourth and had two saves.

Alfred is in action next on Saturday, April, at 4 p.m. vs. Elmira.
