Saxons topped by Nazareth, 16-5

ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University women’s lacrosse team was defeated, 16-6, by host Nazareth College Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 Conference play.

Alfred (1-6, 0-3 Empire 8) trailed Nazareth 6-10, at the half. The Golden Flyers outscored the Saxons 10-3 in the second half, en route to a 16-6 victory. For the game, the Lady Saxons were outshot 45-15.

Senior attack Michelle Adams (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) netted three goals to pace the Saxons. Senior attack Elyse Caldwell (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) sophomore attack Ali Garcia (Salt Lake City, UT/Judge Memorial) and sophomore midfielder Tracie McGinnity (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) each scored a goal, sophomore attack Ali Garcia (Salt Lake City, UT/Judge Memorial) dished out a pair of assist.

Alyssa Johnston (two assists) and Amy McIntosh (one assist) each scored a game-high four goals to lead the Golden Flyers (7-3, 2-1 Empire 8).
Senior Kate Baughman (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made 10 saves in goal for Alfred. Shelby Robinson started in goal for Nazareth playing 17:25, making one save and allowing tow goals. Tara Prosak played the remaining 42:35 in net and finished with three saves.

Alfred is in action next on Sunday, April 10, at 1 p.m. at RIT.
