AU outdoor track and field teams compete at Mount Union
ALLIANCE, OH — The Alfred University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed Saturday at Mount Union. There were no team scores, but several Saxons turned in top-five performances.
Freshmen Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield)) led the Alfred women with a win in her flight of the triple jump (9.82 meters), and a second-place finish in the pole vault (3.06 meters).
Sophomore Kelly-Jo Beck (York, NY/York) won her flight in the discus throw (31.24 meters) and was fourth in the javelin throw (21.48 meters); freshman Eliza Parker (Oswego, NY/Oswego) won her section of the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.95); freshman Jordyn Larkins (Rochester, NY/Harley-Allendale-Columbia) won her section of the 200-meter dash (27.41 seconds) and was third in her section of the 100-meter dash (13.36 seconds); and freshman Chelsea Hall (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) won her section of the 100-meter hurdles (17.13 seconds).
Other top performers for the Alfred women were: freshman Corine Pettit (Strykersville, NY/Holland), fourth in her flight of the long jump (4.41 meters); sophomore Jennifer Miranda (Bronx, NY/Academy of Letters), third in her section of the 400-meters (1:10.05) and fifth in her flight of the long jump (4.10 meters); sophomore Kirsten Cook (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East), fifth in her flight of the discus throw (27.66 meters); freshman Kelly McNamara (Hurleyville, NY/Tri-Valley), fourth in her flight of the shot put (10.71 meters); sophomore Erin Johnstone (West Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), second in her section of the 400-meter hurdles (1:22.31) and fourth in her section of the 1,500-meter run (5:29.86); and freshmen Samantha Rojas and Armoni Jeffries (Rochester, NY/School of the Arts) and sophomore Amy Morrissey (Hornell, NY/Hornell), second (29.98 seconds), fourth (28.38 seconds) and third (28.84 seconds), respectively, in their sections of the 200-meter dash.
Rojas and Morrissey were also second (1:07.87) and fourth (1:04.26), respectively, in their sections of the 400-meter dash.
Freshman Jason Osborne led the Alfred men, winning his flight in the shot put (13.55 meters), while senior Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) was second in his flight of the shot put (15.48 meters). Junior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden) won his section of the 200-meter dash (22.72 seconds), while junior Ken Noll (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) won his section of the 5,000-meter run (16:07.58).
Other top performers for the AU men were: freshmen Craig Gaymon (White Plains, NY/White Plains) and Isaiah Cassin (Candor, NY/Candor), fourth (1.87 meters) and fifth (1.87 meters), respectively, in the high jump; senior Austin Fox (Reinholds, PA/Lancaster Catholic), third in the long jump (5.65 meters); junior Evan Roush (Newport, PA/Newport), second in his flight of the triple jump (13.03 meters); freshman Roberto Hernandez (Bronx, NY/Academy of Letters) and sophomore Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster Catholic), second (1:00.37) and fourth (53.02 seconds), respectively, in their sections of the 400-meter dash; sophomore Chris Lopez (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), fourth in his section of the 100-meter dash (11.85 seconds); junior Derek Echevarria (New York, NY/Cardinal Hayes) and freshman Derrick Hunter, fourth (12.18 seconds) and fifth (12.26), respectively, in their section of the 100-meter dash; junior Randy Brito (New York, NY/Cardinal Hayes), fourth in his section of the 200-meter dash (24.01 seconds); and freshman Connor Ferris, second in his section of the 200-meter dash (25.11 seconds).
Hunter (25.50 seconds) and Hernandez (25.90 seconds) each placed third in their sections of the 200-meter dash.
