Jazz Band will play spring concert Friday
On Friday, April 15 at 8 p.m. in the new Miller Theater, the Alfred University Jazz Band will play its spring concert. Admission is open to the public free of charge.
Christopher Foster directs the student band.
The program will include seven songs: “Another Look At The Diminished Chord” by Bill Liston; “Blue Rondo a la Turk” by Dave Brubeck; “Sanctified Blues” by Wynton Marsalis; “High Maintenance” by Gordon Goodwin; “Momcat Mambo” by Louis Prima, and finally, “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder.
Hunter Haddad from Putney, VT and Max Wilkins of Hornell will be playing alto saxophone. Playing tenor saxophone will be Patrick Francia of Rochester and Cob Charpentier of Smithfield, RI. Jason Rashkow of Westford, NY will play baritone saxophone. There will be four trumpeters: Clayton Morgan of Alfred, Sra Egan of Hanson, MA, Brandon Rolling of Attica, and Wayde Ross of Belfast.
The three students playing trombone are Jeff Colby of Rochester, Casey Dunphy of Queensbury, and Peter Metz of Syracuse. Scott DeFranco-Norton of Salisbury Mills, will play piano, Max Feeman of Ardmore, PA will play guitar, while Colby Austin of Olean, will play bass. Percussionists include Chris Frauenhofer of Hamburg, on the drums, and Corina Guera of East Northport, on auxiliary percussion.
