Ithaca defeats Lady Saxons, 17-4

ALFRED, NY — Visiting Ithaca College defeated the Alfred University women’s lacrosse team, 17-4, Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest at Merrill Field.

Alfred (2-8, 0-5 Empire 8) trailed Ithaca, 9-2, at the half and was outshot 22-3. For the game, Ithaca held advantages in shots (40-6), groundballs (32-13), and draw controls (15-8).

Senior attack Michelle Adams (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) netted three goals to pace AU. Senior attack Elyse Caldwell (Endwell, NY/-Maine-Endwell) scored a goal, and sophomore midfielders Devin Fitzgerald (Rochester, NY/ Greece Olympia), and Tracie McGinnity (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) each had an assist.

Nicole Borisenok (four goals, one assist) and Katie Hurley (two goals, three assists) each scored five points to lead the Bombers.

Senior Kate Baughman (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made 10 saves in goal for Alfred. Jess Worthman played the first 52:46 in goal and made one save and Brittany Romano played the remaining 7:14 in net for Ithaca (7-4, 5-1 Empire 8)

Alfred is in action next on Sunday, April 17, at 1 p.m. at Utica.
