AU English equestrian team competes at IHSA Regionals
ITHACA, NY — Ten members of the Alfred University English equestrian team competed Saturday, April 3, at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone II, Region I championships in Ithaca, with five riders qualifying to compete at the Zone II championships.
The top two riders at Regionals advance to the Zone championships, April 9 in Saratoga, NY. AU riders who advanced were: senior Maire Cosgrove (White Haven, PA/Bishop Hoban), second in open equitation on the flat; senior Erin Toone (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South), first in walk-trot-canter; sophomore Amelia Keyes (Webster, NY) second in novice equitation over fences; sophomore Tesla Parker (Waitsfield, VT/Harwood Union), first in novice equitation on the flat; and junior Katie LeSuer (Edinboro, PA/Cambridge Springs), second in novice equitation on the flat.
Other riders who competed at Regionals, but did not advance to Zones, were: senior Barbara Koziol (Syracuse, PA/Bishop Ludden) in open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat; senior Natalie Grow (Hyde Park, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) in intermediate equitation over fences; senior Michelle Flannery (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) in novice equitation over fences; junior Kelly Rinebold (Ontario, NY/Wayne) in intermediate equitation on the flat; and junior Jessica Repanes (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills) in walk-trot-canter.
