AU outdoor track and field teams place seven on all-conference teams

ROCHESTER, NY — The Empire 8 announced its outdoor track and field all-conference teams this week and four individuals and one relay from the Alfred University men’s and women’s teams earned all-conference recognition.

Senior Shawn Ross (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) earned First Team men’s honors for the shot put, while freshman Rebecca Graudons (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield), in the pole vault, and sophomore Jordyn Larkins (Rochester, NY/Harley-Allendale-Columbia), in the 200-meter dash, took home First Team women’s honors.

All-conference honors were determined by results from the Empire 8 outdoor championship meet, held Sunday at RIT. Ross won the shot put with a championship meet-record toss of 14.74 meters. Graudons won the pole vault, with her height of 3.30 meters setting a new AU school record. Larkins won the 200-meter dash in 28.27 seconds and also earned Second Team honors in the 100-meter dash with her second-place finish in that event (13.30 seconds).

Saxon freshmen Craig Gaymon (White Plains, NY/White Plains), earned Second Team honors with his runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash (23.70 seconds). The AU men’s team of junior Rich Scott (Eden, NY/Eden), sophomores Chris Lopez (Rochester, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Jeremy Weaver (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster Catholic) and Gaymon earned Second Team honors in the 4X100-meter relay, in which they placed second in 43.50 seconds.

The AU men’s and women’s teams are in action next on April 28 and 29 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA.
