Fisher drops Lady Saxons, 21-4

ALFRED,NY—The Alfred University women’s lacrosse fall in their final Empire 8 Conference game of the season to host St. John Fisher, 21-4, Saturday afternoon.

Fisher held a commanding 12-2 lead at the half as they outshot AU 24-10. For the game, Fisher outshot the Saxons 39-15, and held a 25-17 advantage in groundballs.

Senior attack Elyse Caldwell (Endwell, NY/Maine- Endwell) scored two goals to lead AU (2-11, 0-8 Empire 8). Senior attack Michelle Adams (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and sophomore midfielder Tracie McGinnity (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (one assist) each scored a goal, and sophomore attack Ali Garcia (Salt Lake City, UT/Judge Memorial) added an assist.

Mary Stimson and Melissa Leonhard each scored three goals and an assist to pace Fisher (10-5, 5-3 Empire 8) as 11 different players found the back of net for the Cardinals’ and seven scored at least two goals.

Senior Kate Baughman (Rush, NY/Rush-Henrietta) made 12 saves in goal for AU. Molly Naylon played the first half making four saves to earn the victory, and Caroline Trpcevski played the second half in goal for Fisher and made one save.

Alfred returns to action Tuesday, April 26, at 4 pm, when they take on visiting Morrisville in their season finale.
