AU’s Brooks-Lambert named Empire 8 men's lacrosse all-star

ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) has been named an Empire 8 Conference men’s lacrosse all-star.

The Empire 8 announced its all-star teams Thursday and Brooks-Lambert a freshman midfielder, was given Honorable Mention as a short-stick specialist

Brooks-Lambert, in his freshman campaign, started all 16 games, finishing with 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. He picked up a team-high 139 groundball and as the teams primary face-off man won 228 of 350 draws (65.1 percent). In Empire 8 play he scooped up 60 groundballs and won 101 of 171 draws (59.1 percent), both ranking third in conference.

Each season, the Empire 8 honors students-athletes from each conference school, who play on teams sponsored by the conference, with Sportsperson of the Year awards. Honorees, chosen by their coaches, exhibited outstanding sportsmanship in keeping with the conference’s mission of “competing with honor and integrity.” Senior attack Marc Zoyhofski (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) is Alfred’s honoree from the men’s lacrosse team.

Alfred finished the 2011 season with a 10-6 record (2-6 Empire 8), its best mark since the 1997 team went 10-4, and lost to Nazareth in of the NCAA DIII tournament.
