“Profile 2011,” an exhibition of work by 27 May graduates of the School of Art & Design at Alfred University, opens today at the GEM Hotel, 300 W. 22nd St., New York, NY.

An opening reception will be held from 6-9 p.m. today; it is open to the public.

An alumni reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 16. That event is also open to the public.

The exhibition will be open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily through June 25.

Leslie Bellavance, dean of the School of Art & Design, calls “Profile 2011” a “sampling of some of the fine work done by all the School’s graduates this year. The selections reflect the range of art practice within the School, and were chosen to be representative of the quality of the work our students produce.”

Work for the NYC show was juried through faculty recommendations, and is representative of the work shown during the annual Senior Shows, held in May, in which more than 100 graduating seniors displayed their work.

“Profile 2011” is made possible through the generosity of Michele and Marty Cohen, whose son Adam graduated from the School of Art & Design. Michele Cohen is a member of the Alfred University Board of Trustees.
