Celeine Easdon-Smith has been appointed director of major gifts for the development office, Stanley Colla, vice president for University Relations, announced.

Easdon-Smith will be working with alumni and friends of the University in the Northeast.
"Celeine’s combination of experience and skills were judged to be the best match for Alfred University’s needs in fund-raising," Colla said. She was selected from a "very competitive pool of candidates."

" The opportunity to promote the educational development of young people in an intellectually stimulating environment is very exciting," said Easdon-Smith. "I am looking forward to visiting with Alfred University’s alumni and friends to raise money for the University in support of annual and capital priorities. The future of society depends on educating today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. And, the prospect of cultivating relationships that will generate gifts that touch students’ lives every day in ways that matter is very inspiring. "

Easdon-Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Drexel University in Philadelphia, and an MBA, also in marketing from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. She spent more than 15 years in marketing and sales, primarily in the pharmaceutical industry, before she and her husband, Ashley, moved to Potter County, PA, in 2002. They own and operate Oz’s Homestay Bed & Breakfast and the Freefall Oz Skydiving Center in Ceres, PA.

Most recently, Easdon-Smith was an adjunct instructor at Alfred State College, teaching "Strategic and Creative Problem Solving."
