Cover Girl: Alumna’s photographs featured in Organic Gardening calendar

The 2012 edition of the Organic Gardening planner features the photographs of Christa Neu, a 1995 graduate of Alfred University with a degree in history.

Neu is now photography director at Organic Gardening.

The planner "is a collection of photos I’ve taken over the past seven years at Organic Gardening," said Neu, who offers what she calls "a bit of trivia: Most of the photos were taken at J.I. Rodale’s farm, where J.I. himself tested crops for Organic Farming and Gardening magazine." Founded in 1942, the most venerable of the organic gardening magazines will mark its 70th anniversary in 2012.

The planner offers little tips each week that relate to the photos.

"It was a fun project to work on, especially the snow pictures," said Neu. "It was a nice chance to visit the farm in the winter."

Neu is also guest judging for Gardening Gone Wild’s picture this contest, where people can learn about getting good late summer garden photos, and submit some of their own. For more, see: http://www.gardeninggonew...

Neu also writes a weekly blog that appears on the Organic Gardening web site: http://organicgardening.c...
