Pitt-Bradford keeps AU women’s soccer team winless

ALFRED, NY - Visiting Pitt-Bradford handed the Alfred University women’s soccer team a 3-0 setback Wednesday afternoon on Merrill Field.

Pitt-Bradford (3-0) held a 2-0 lead at the half. The Panthers’ Frankie Embrescia tallied an unassisted goal 23:50 into the contest, and Lindsay Sherman scored on an assist from Emily Mitchell 11 minutes later. Sherman scored unassisted with just more than 14 minutes left in regulation to put the game out of reach. For the game, Pitt-Bradford outshot Alfred, 13-6.

Junior Ashley Frazell (Newton, NJ/Newton) started in goal for AU and made three saves while allowing three goals in 79:37. Freshman Brianna Opperman (Erie, PA/Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate) played the final 10:23 in net for AU and made one save. Alisa Cornell went the distance in goal for Pitt-Bradford, making three saves to earn the shutout.

Alfred (0-3) is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at D’Youville.
