AU colleagues team up as co-chairwomen of the Biology Division

Jean Cardinale, associate professor of biology, and Cheryld Emmons, professor of biology, are new co-chairwomen of the Biology Division, School of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Alfred University.

Cardinale obtained a bachelor of science degree in cell and developmental biology, and a master of science degree and Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology, all from the University of Rochester.

She is curriculum editor for the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education and served as co-chair of the American Society for Microbiology-UNESCO Leadership in 2009 and 2010. She has been a presenter at American Society for Microbiology conferences.

Emmons earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Siena College, Loudonville; a master of science degree in plant physiology from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio; and a Ph.D. in horticulture from the University of Florida, Gainesville.
