Alumna artist's paintings reflect geologic time
Artist Alison Weld, AU Class of 1975, began her oil-impasto paintings based on geologic time in the mid-1980s.
It vibrates in a mini retrospective, "Striations and Silent Diaries," on display through September at the Atea Ring Gallery in Westport. "Striations and Silent Diaries" has a range of work from 1981 to the mid-1990s to the present.

Alison also has a concurrent solo exhibition, "A Necessary Convergence," at the Art Gallery, Powers Hall, University of Maine at Machias.
Her works are in public collections, including the Art Museum of the University of Memphis, New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse.
